Abstract [en]

This report describes a new idea for rocket tanks. Calculations and simulations are made to determine whether the idea is sound. The idea is to bring a tank in a tank, so as to allow a work division between the internal and the external tank. The Interior is designed to withstand low temperatures and the fuel weight, while the exterior designed to envelop all under a high pressure, without weighing too much. Calculations show that the concept is especially good for tanks intended o contain liquid hydrogen. We recommend a composite tank with a thin inner-tank of Aluminum, surrounded by a lightweight insulating layer of glass fiber wool, with a gas filled gap to an isolated composite outer tank, which is surrounded by a protective sheath of thin titanium plate. Then the tank weight is cut in half.
