Abstract [en]

This is a qualitative study based on in-depth interviews with unemployed young people aged 18-29 years, as well as staff from the social services and the local labourprogram for unemployed youths in Kalix. This study is based on following questions: What opportunities and obstacles do the youths express in their process to have a stable in-come?What are the working methods of the labourprogram for unemployed youths in?Which success factors can be identified in the youths that can be directly linked to the labourprogram? The results will be analysed with theories about the individualization of the labor market, em-powerment, social risks and social trust and security.The study shows that the main obstacles that young people most face in the labor market are the lack of education and mental health issues. The program operations are important and make a difference for the individuals involved. All the young people who participated in the labourprogram has come closer to employment through personal and social enhancements. The program can be summarized as an individual-focused function with positive results for participants' health and personal development.
