Abstract [en]

In this text you will be able to find the answer about what the listeners expect by their hosts on the radio. You will also be able to discover that there are mainly two sorts of listeners that demands different kinds of hosts. I chose to call these two groups liberal and conservative listeners. Note however that each and every listener is liberal and/or conservative in different degree. Ultimately it was confirmed that the hosts’ part during broadcast is very important in the question about if the listener wants to continue to listen to a show or not. To obtain this kind of knowledge I believe is very important whatever we will chose to meet the listeners’ demands or not. It is after all a fact that the radio is produced for the public’s sake and even, because of that, it is depended on them in order to be able to continue their broadcasting. The result grew through ethnological research in the form of focus interviews where the respondents got to listen to and answer questions about different kinds of examples of hosts that I did produce specific for this study. To also try out the result in the practice a production of a radio show was done where a type of host that would be able to meet as many listeners’ demands as possible was set to trial.
