Abstract [en]

In today’s information society is it a societal demand and expectation that all individuals under-stand and can express themselves in writing. This requirement leads to that a disability such as dyslexia and its problems become increasingly clear. In spite of this, more and more persons with a dyslexia diagnosis start to study at universities. This thesis seeks to gain an understanding of how students with a dyslexic diagnosis experience their dyslexia today, the impact of dysle-xia in the future in terms of career and plans, and how they view their future as a whole. A qualita-tive method was used and 11 students with a dyslexic diagnosis participated in semi- structured interviews. The results show that the interviewees were positive about their future and their possibility to a career after a degree. The interviewees felt that they had found a way to manage their dyslexia and through this they experienced that the negative effects of the dyslexia on everyday life was small. However, they indicated that dyslexia still presents certain difficulties especially with respect to reading. Keyword: Dyslexia, student, vision for the future, career
