All In - Den svenska nätspelsmarknaden: En kvantitativ studie av konkurrens och marknadsstruktur
2015 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

The Swedish gaming monopoly has experienced increased competition in the form of international online gambling. The research area is actualized further since AB Svenska Spel has applied for a license concerning online casino. The purpose of this study was to investigate how the Swedish online gambling market has developed given increased competition and how this in turn affected AB Svenska Spel. The authors of this study used quantitative data in order to study how concentrated the market was. This led to a market being developed into a combination between Bertrand oligopoly and monopolistic competition. The international companies entry and differentiation resulted in increased competition that is expected to continue. Furthermore, a regression analysis was conducted in order to answer how AB Svenska Spel has been affected. The findings concluded that consumers substitute AB Svenska Spel in favor of international alternatives. Moreover, the analysis showed that online gambling is considered as a normal good and that the income elasticity is in accordance with previous research.
