The purpose of this research has been to map the relationships between sponsors and Swedish non-profit elite sport associations and how they evolve over time. To answer the purpose, a deductive study with both quantitative and qualitative elements has been conducted through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The result shows that sponsor relationships can be seen as a life cycle where the relationships change over time. In particular, the collaboration increases and the interdependences between the parties will be higher. The relationship and therefore the communication are more informal. The reasons for initiating such relationships play a major part in the introduction of the relationship. These change over time and become less important in the future phases of the relationship.
