Preceptorship is an important part of the profession as a radiology nurse. A group who has the most need of good quality preceptorship is radiology nursing students. Radiology nursing students convert theory into practice during their clinical practice with support from preceptors. Therefore preceptorship should take place with efficiency so that radiology nursing students’ learning will be maximised. The aim of this systematic literature review was to describe students’ perspective of preceptor and preceptorship during clinical practice. Three questions based on the aim of this review were formulated. The questions were: are there any characteristics of the preceptor which students value higher than others, does students’ clinical learning get influenced by characteristics of the preceptor and are there any other factors that affect students’ clinical learning? Sixteen articles were analysed and the results showed that there were characteristics of the preceptor which students’ value higher than others, and that students’ learning was affected by those characteristics but also by other outer factors. Characteristics and factors were described in results under category which were: approachability, communication skills, knowledge and teaching, availability, confidence and encouragement to independence, nursing care, expectations for student/reach their goal. Proper education for preceptors and to create more time could be the key to improvement of preceptorship during clinical practice.
