Koreografen, dansen, skolan: Hur dansföreställningar kan relateras till gymnasieskolan

This study aims to investigate the relationship between dance performances, created to be shown to secondary school pupils, and secondary school activity. It also claims to investigate in what way the choreographers of these performances use the school governing documents, what the choreographers think about teachers’ view of a dance performance’s relation to secondary school activity and the relations between the performances and the school governing documents seen by the author. The study used qualitative interviews with three choreographers and observations of dance performances that the choreographers had created. The result shows that none of the choreographers made use of the school governing documents when they created the performances, two of the choreographers, however, consider doing so in the future. The performances are instead related to school activities by the choreographers' perceptions of young people's lives, and by the opinion that students should watch dance. The author saw several connections between the performances and the school governing documents. Two of the choreographers believe that the stronger related to the school governing documents a performance is, the more likely it is that the teacher wants to use it in class. The third choreographer rather believes that the very fact that students have the opportunity to watch the dance is superior to the attachment between a performance and the school governing documents. No overall conclusion can be drawn from the study, but the study indicates that dance performances, at creation based on the school governing documents, does not occur to any large extent. To work in this way, directly from the school's needs and governing documents, is left to choreographers in the future.
