Abstract [en]

AbstractThe purpose with this work was to investigate the importance of code of practise has on music by J. S. Bach and Max Bruch, and what will happen if you play that music with another code of practise from a different time-period. In the essay I write about diffferences and similarities between the Barouque-Violin and the modern Violin, and I also describe selected parts about the different code of practise. The questions I had was:•How can information about the Baroque-Violin and its code of practise contribute to my way of plaing music by J. S. Bach?•Is it possible for me to gather inspiration and find knowledge, by listening to other violinist when they play music by Bach, and in that manner contribute to my own interpretation?•What happens with the musical expression of a part of the final movement of the romantic Violin-concerto no 1 G-minor by Bruch, when I apply what I percieve to be "Baroque code of practise" ?•What is my point of view regarding the "the need of being authentic" when making music, after this work? When I used available information about the Baroque-Violin and its code of practise, I wanted to contribute to my way of playing music by Bach. I used the same information when I did a musical experiment on the final movement of the G-minor Violin-concerto by Bruch. The result of my work showed that code of practise does matter, and it affect how the music sounds in the end.
