Design and Analysis of Container Washing System

Abstract [en]

The project aims at designing an interior washing system for freight containers in acompletely automatic way. The project just deals with the mechanical development ofthe system, leaving out aspects such as electrical wiring, electronics and systemprogramming. In this thesis the work focuses initially on the analysis of the majorexisting methods within the field of design and development of new products.Subsequently a methodology applicable to the project is created, as a basis to supportthe generation and development of ideas for the design of the product. Finally a detaileddesign is made for the parts of the process that do not exist in the market today, withtheir correspondent Computer Aided Design (CAD) models, structural analysis usingthe finite element method as well as some dynamic simulations.The project concludes with a discussion of the methodology used analyzing whichaspects can be improved and which have worked well.
