Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to investigate preschool teachers' perception and experience of work with documentation. The curriculum for preschool emphasizes pedagogical documentation as a tool in their daily work. My desire was to find out how and for what purpose the educators document and if it is used to develop pre-school quality. The empirical data gathered through survey methods and self-report answered by educators from five different preschools. The survey showed that all educators believe that the process of documentation is important. They use the documentation to make the children's learning and development visible, as well as their own approach. The educators then reflect along with children and colleagues. Through reflection they find new ways and opportunities to develop their workmanship, which helps to increase the quality of preschool. However, it appears that educators perceives that documentation becomes a stress factor as a result from the lack of time that are being manned. Educators want to make more and more detailed documentation, but for this to be practically possible, they expressed that more time is needed.
