Abstract [en]

Expectations and demands on IT-enterprises that provide organizations with IT-solutions areconstantly increasing. The IT- industry continues to evolve, for better or worse. Newtechnology brings fantastic opportunities for organizations to improve and become moreefficient. But there are also disadvantages with the fast evolving technology. The majority oforganizations and companies currently use some kind of IT- system and the threats areconstantly increasing. Intrusion detection systems have become more crucial at the sametime as already existing solutions does not meet the demands. This thesis is based on a casewere a company is planning to develop their own product. The thesis contains the earlystages of the development of an IDS, ranging from the requirement gathering process tillproposed solution, which concept is also proven. The work is based on carefully chosenscientific theories and methods.
