"Jag känner ett stort lugn.": En kvalitativ studie om lärares naturupplevelser
Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
The aim of this study was to investigate teachers’ perception of staying in their staffroom where nature-related measures were taken as well as their appreciation of health-promoting nature experiences in general. The method used for investigating these research questions was a qualitative data collection in the form of a questionnaire with two open-ended questions. The results from a qualitative content analysis showed that nature’s positive health-promoting effects were experienced both indoors and outdoors. The feelings of calmness and quietness, recovery and well-being were experienced due to particular details in the staffroom. The results also showed that the participants’ positive experiences in nature were strongly associated with different senses. The conclusion to be drawn from this study is that small and simple nature-related measures taken in a staff room contribute to health-promoting breaks. The result, which points to a link between nature and perceived better health, is discussed with respect to future work in this area of health promotion.
