Development of zeolite porous supports

Abstract [en]

The development of porous support of zeolite silicalite-1 has been studied with different binders. Microsized zeolite particles were shaped by casting into cylindrical pellets. The main idea was to consolidate them by accumulation of fine materials at contact point between zeolite particles during drying followed by hydrothermal treatment. Three different fine materials were investigated: a zeolite precursor gel, zeolite particles of 150 nm and zeolite particles of 40 nm. Pellets of acceptable strength and shape were obtained with an appropriate mixture of seeds (40 nm zeolites) and zeolites powder. This success was attributed to the growth a thin film between the zeolites particles. Different parameters have been compared, mixing, hydrothermal treatment, temperature, and pellet diameter.
