Today, one has a great opportunity to make oneself visible, mainly in regards to the development the media has seen in the last few years, especially regarding the online journalism and social media. One of the most famous people in the world is Kim Kardashian, who in the beginning of mars, 2015, bleached her hair to blonde. The event was massively portrayed and discussed in press and social media.The purpose of this essay has been to examine how the press, and Twitter, represent Kim Kardashian, with terms as hegemony, ideology, identity and visibility, in mind. How does the shifting media society contribute to her portrayal, and how does convergence contribute? The analysis was carried out with a qualitative text analysis, wherein a number of articles and tweets from the 5th to the 28th of mars was reviewed.The result shows that most of the magazines has represented the event as an incredibly important event, considering how much space it was given in the media. On Twitter, the event has been more nuanced, and Kardashian has received both positive and negative criticism. However, what both press and Twitter has in common, according to our analysis, is the whatever is written about here it contributes to the ruling hegemony that legitimates Kardashian has one of the worlds most famous people.
