Abstract [en]

This essay is a study of two female fictional characters, created by American author Patricia Cornwell and Swedish author Liza Marklund. The focus in the essay is on the fictional characters and their differences and similarities in areas such as work and relationships. Three texts chosen from a series of books from each writer is the foundation of the study. The first chapter in this essay is a historical background to crime novels and forensic science novels and a description of the genre. The second chapter presents the two female fictional characters – Kay Scarpetta and Annika Bengtzon. The third chapter is the analysis of, and comparison between the two fictional characters.
