Abstract [en]

Matte painting and camera projection is a relatively quick and efficient way of creating environments that don't exist. In this paper I will examine and present how matte painting is used in VFX-production and determine how to achieve an efficient workflow with end products holding up to industry standard. I will test and show the difference between 2D, 2.5D and 3D-generated environments and discuss what method should be used in different situations. I will also report on the general development of matte painting and camera projection and discuss in which direction it seems to be heading.
