Kvinnliga Parlamentariker = Ekonomisk tillväxt?: En ekonometrisk studie baserad på paneldata från 66 länder mellan åren 1997-2013

Abstract [en]

The aim of the present thesis was to investigate whether the proportion of women in poor countries’ parliaments affects the country's economic growth and whether this differs depending on where in the world the countries are located. To determine this an econometric analysis based on panel data were made. The data covered 66 countries between the years 1997 and 2013. The results showed no significant relationship between the proportion of women in parliament and economic growth. Exceptions to this were seen in Latin America and the Caribbean where a positive correlation existed. Further it was seen that the variable of political stability had a positive impact on economic growth and the variable population growth was shown to have a negative impact.
