The purpose of this paper is to illustrate how music education in grades 4-6 are controlled in practice, how the teacher interprets the curriculum, how to plan teaching in an overall perspective, as well as how the assessment and grading is done. The study's main epistemological approach is the ideology of critical hermeneutics. The methodology is based on textual analysis, in addition to a survey of music teachers in the county, as well as observation and data of all 161 students in grade 6 and their 5 teachers in the municipality survey. The result has thus partly objectively secure data, but mostly it's about credibility based on the coherence criteria.Through the qualitative textual analysis emerges a conflict between the written and communicated curriculum and curriculum context within the whole school of conceptions world. The discussion deals with the main results whether the view of knowledge, learning and human has changed through the new school policy. Main Results are also that Lgr11 in greater degree than before is a living document for the music teacher, that it controls to a greater extent by increased demands on measurement and documentation, that there is a lot of flexibility in the approach to the assessment and grading of the teacher, and that the knowledge requirements has a strong role in Lgr11.
