Hantering av dispensärenden: En fallstudie vid General Electrics Healthcare
2013 (Swedish)Independent thesis Advanced level (professional degree), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

The thesis is performed at GE Healthcare in Umeå and examines the establishment of repeated concessions on nonconforming articles. A concession means that an article is used despite the nonconformance from the specification or drawings, which sometimes causes costs through administration and production stop. In addition, it is difficult to ensure how the nonconforming article affects the customer. The purpose of the thesis is to develop a method to deal with repeated concessions. Demands and requirements concerning the new method have been identified through questionnaires and interviews with personnel from the current concession process.A recommendation is to create a cross-functional forum where people from different departments meet to review and discuss the latest concessions and try to identify and fix the underlying problems in a systematic way. In addition to the forum, our recommendation is to:• Appoint a process owner for the concession process• Revise the routine for the concession process• Stricter requirements for approving concessions• Educate staff• Investigate the feasibility of introducing a standardized quick fix for minor problems
