Abstract [en]

The purpose with this thesis was to describe the safety climate in the Norrbotten County Council and provide information about actions called for to achieve a good safety climate. The questions to be answered in relation to the purpose were: How is the general safety climate in the Norrbotten County Council? How do the employees perceive management´s commitment to safety issues in the Norrbotten County Council? How do the employees perceive the work group they belong to relate to safety in the Norrbotten County Council? Is there any difference in the perception of safety work in Norrbotten County Council between managers and employees? The study included a survey involving 127 employees. The survey instrument used was Nordic Safety Climate Questionnaire (NOSACQ-50). The results indicate that the safety climate level was relatively high in the Norrbotten County Council. Safety was a high priority for managers as well as for employees. The safety commitment and the responsibility within the working group were high, which is a good precondition for achieving an even better safety behavior (Törner, 2008).
