Motivation på Samhall: En utvärdering av Samhalls utvecklingsplan
2011 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

Samhall is the organisation created to implement the labour market plan of the Swedish government to help people with functional limitations to be introduced on the regular labour market. Different types of methods, including work and education, are used by Samhall and a development plan to motivate and strengthen their employees to prepare them for the regular market, are being followed. Samhall has experienced difficulties in motivating their employees to leave Samhall and has, therefore, asked for an evaluation of their plan. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate if Samhall’s development plan is effective enough to motivate their employees and also to make suggestions of improvements, if found necessary. The question asked, was whether Samhall’s plan for development includes enough motivation factors to be successful? A qualitative method has been used to reach a deeper understanding of the employees’ experiences of the development plan. The results of the evaluation show that Samhall’s plan needs some improvement. The employees did find some of the tasks assigned as meaningless and these tasks should therefore be changed or excluded. Many of the employees also felt that discussing the plan, in itself, as a way to make them participate in their own development, is a waste of time. The negative attitude of society in general towards Samhall was another factor that was perceived as working against the intended goal. One more negative factor was the poor contribution of the staff leaders. The suggestions made to the organisation are to help the employees to get a more outspoken goal to follow, to strengthen the role of the staff leaders, and to take appropriate actions to create a more positive attitude both within, and outside Samhall.
