Abstract [en]

This work has been made on behalf of SF Brandskyddskontroll to investigate the effects and possibilities due to new building regulations on their operation concerning verification of fire safety in buildings. The new regulations will result in clearer demands as well as provide help and guidence when working with buildings fire safety design. To illustrate how the regulations can be applied, available methods and tools has been investigated. This investigation identified two different methods: calculation by hand, which mainly is used as a complement, or simulation in a computer. Since there are hundreds of programmes available they was divided into different subgroups, which all had their specific attributes, to enable a proper investigation. The subgroups which were found to provide the most reliable results were for egress programmes so called particle models and for fire calculation programmes so called field models.
