Ridsport som fenomen för integration: En kvalitativ studie om integration

Abstract [en]

The aim of this C-paper is to describe the riding as a phenomenon of integration, to ascertain how the integration of immigrants can work in and through riding. I will study two projects conducted in Norrbotten where the use of riding in an attempt to achieve greater integration. I am using two questions: How does integration work through equestrian? What effects do they change for integration projects? In Sweden, for decades, integration policy has been a hot topic in politics. A well functioning integration requires the participation and involvement in schools, in employment, voluntary sector and also in the political system .Today viewed sports as a means to increase integration in society. With various projects around the country, municipalities have been aimed at using the riding integrate immigrants into Swedish society. This is a qualitative study and I am using semi-structured interviews in order to achieve a result. The results show that the managers of the projects experienced some language improvement and that the projects gave the participants a greater social and cultural capital
