Ska de kunna låten eller genren?: En studie i hur metoden påverkar elevers utveckling inom ensemblespel.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was finding out to what extent music teachers with ensemble work towards productions/results or students own instrumental progress and the creating of a broad knowledge in music. Four music teachers with ensemble were interviewed and the interviews were then transcribed. In the result section, the relevant content from the interviews is shown and the different conclusions along with our preconceived ideas are compared in the discussion. The main result of this study was that the teachers generally would like to work with the students development in playing with an ensemble, but the road to it tends to be through concerts - a production. They say that there isn’t enough resources to focus on a genre and the depth of it, and that the education mostly ends up on a basic level. They also say that the collaboration between the different aesthetic subjects needs to become better in order to facilitate the students development, since everything within the subject of music is related.
