For answers to the questions that deal with the subject at hand, both managers and project members who work or previously worked in projects with outsourcing were interviewed. The study results have been summarized in a list of six factors that project managers should be aware of as they embark on an outsourcing project, these are: The communication process: Overuse of written communication increases the chance of misunderstanding, impersonal communication and excuses. Lack of nonverbal communication prevents confirmation capability and results in an increased chance of project failure. Expectations: Poor handling means that developers are prevented in their work and prevents communication. Development Method: Projects that use the waterfall model has a reduced density of communication. Culture: Technological culture affects developers a way to write and read code as well as designing solutions. Technological culture that is different between the developers affects their ability to interpret assignments, which causes problems. Keywords: IT projects, outsourcing, project management, project, development, communication, awareness.
