This paper deals with a number of individuals' experience of using a diet to modify the body or to undertake a more profound and lasting lifestyle change. The essay concerns diets in general but LCHF in particular. The purpose is to highlight the factors in modern social climate that contributors to individual decision making. Respondents' stories highlight various factors that influenced their choice of diet control. The essay has an exploratory and descriptive nature, and with the help of theories, interviews and internet research, I have sought to find answers to what factors in society and in the individuals themselves, contribute to the choice of starting to use a diet and what diet you choose. The analysis shows that respondents' reasons varies, such as the desire to lose weight, perception of LCHF as "easy and good," combining diet with exercise for maximum muscle building, view of sugar as unhealthy and addictive or presumed- and self-perceived health benefits and even food preference, and that the individual's choice of diet is often rooted and thoughtful. It is likely that today's focus on appearance, health, training and diet, in parallel with the availability of unhealthy food is great and the cooking trend continues, while obesity has increased in society, can contribute to an explanation of why diets is "of today." The answer to why LCHF received such attention and became more common may be due to wide media spread, new attitude in individuals indicates that sugar is just as unhealthy as fat. Another reason is that LCHF is a method that appeals to a variety of "new" categories of people, due to not being obliged to forsake the "traditional" and popular fat dishes and also that LCHF correspond well with muscle building and training ideals.
