Ensemble som gruppsituation

The aim for this study is to examine and gain a deeper understanding regarding the different group processes, roles and the communication which occurs during rock and pop ensembles, as well as how teachers take this in consideration in their tuition. To get closer to the aim of the study, we conducted interviews with four operating teachers in the aesthetic courses in upper secondary school. Our intent was also to observe a group of students on three different class occasions with the purpose of connecting the teacher’s thoughts and the view of reality. The interviews were however the main methods in collecting answers to our research questions and the aim of our study. A questionnaire was created for the interview and an observation schedule was formed to limit, but also to specify our subject. The study shows how teachers relate to their students’ different roles in school, but also more specifically how they appear in a rock and pop ensemble situation. The study also gives a view of how the communication from teacher to student works, and how it affects the climate in the group. The deeper understanding for group processes we aimed to gain proved to be very interesting, but far from complete.
