Abstract [en]

The paper describes the research activity of the European Rail Research Institute (ERRI) dealing with the fatigue of concrete and prestressed concrete railway bridges. The static, dynamic and fatigue tests are carried out on several elements of railway bridges in a reduced scale as well as on a real bridge and on a pretensioned precast beam in the full-scale. The effect of various parameters (e.g. shear) is sought for and the diminishing of natural frequencies with increasing number of load cycles was discovered.
