The effects of differentiationand neurotoxin on the global geneexpression in neuronal cells

Abstract [en]

Botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT/A) is a neurotoxin created by some strains of bacteria inthe family Clostridium. The toxin causes the disease Botulism that has symptoms of paralyzesthat can last for several weeks. Neuroblastoma cell lines were treated with the toxin BoNT/A.These kinds of cells are a common cancer form in children. Microarray expression data fromthe neuroblastoma cell lines (SiMa and IMR-32) were compared and analyzed in thestatistical programming language R. The filtered genes were annotated by gene ontology(GO) annotation. Sorting up the GO annotations into categories described that SiMa had moregenes upregulated in the vesicle trafficking category while upregulated genes in IMR-32 wereover represented in cell morphology and cell differentiation. SiMa was shown to be moreclose to a neuronal cell than the IMR-32 and can be a better option for in vitro experiment.
